After Tuesday night's horror show, I never felt so pessimistic about America.
Even after the John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King assassinations, Sept. 11, Watergate, Gore-Bush, the Covid-19 pandemic, the election of Trump, I believed the republic would survive.
Now, I'm not so sure. Trump's mugging of the nation Tuesday night demonstrated his total contempt for our democracy.
At the end, a still buoyant Joe Biden placed his hope in the American people. His wife, Jill's, fervent embrace of him was that of the wounded nation.
